ISIS

ISIS - Goddess of birth, rebirth and magic.

Isis was the wife of the god of the underworld, Osiris.
Isis enjoyed a very special role within the gods:
She was the only goddess with magical powers.

The name Isis probably comes from the Greek word "artemes"

Which means something like “safe”.

She is best known from the Osiris myth as a strong wife and caring mother. She gives her brother and husband Osiris new life after his death and she protects their son Horus from the persecution of his uncle Seth.

Magic played an important role in the myths surrounding Isis and it was only because of her magical abilities that she was able to bring Osiris back to life and protect Horus from evil forces.

She is described as the protector, guardian and caretaker of all beings who suffer.

Isis was supposed to ward off all demons that tempted and misled people in order to remember what had been lost in human abilities.

In the myth, Isis brings her dead husband back to life after he was killed by Seth.
Seth was jealous of Osiris' success and fame. With accomplices, he created a magnificent sarcophagus to be given to the person who best fit into it. But the chest was built to fit Osiris perfectly, since Seth had previously secretly taken measurements of Osiris. When Osiris went into the sarcophagus, Seth slammed the lid of the coffin shut, causing Osiris to suffocate and his coffin was thrown into the Nile.

Isis didn't believe her husband had died and started looking for him, she was able to find the coffin and bring it back to Egypt. She decided to bring Osiris back to life with potions and she hid the body while her sister and Seth's wife, Nephthys, kept watch. Seth learned Osiris's location from Nephthys, found him, and cut his body into forty-two pieces. He scattered all of Osiris' body parts throughout Egypt. When Isis found out, she was devastated and her sister felt guilty and promised her that she would find all the pieces and bring Osiris back to life. So it happened, but Osiris was not complete, so he descended into the underworld to become the rightful judge of the underworld. But before Osiris descended, Isis was able to conceive his child named Horus (god of the sky).

Embodiment of maternal devotion and healing magic

Horus was kept secret by his mother to protect him from his evil uncle Seth. He had a very difficult childhood as he was always attacked by animals and strange creatures sent by Seth. However, he was always healed by his mother Isis, the embodiment of maternal devotion and healing magic.
