LIGHT. FIRE. ENJOYMENT OF LIFE

SOL

Sól - personification of light and warmth

At the beginning of the time when the cosmos was created, the Norse goddess Sol was brought into the universe with her brother Mani.

She is the daughter of Mundilfari and the goddess Eir, sister of the moon god Máni and wife of Glenr.

At a meeting of the existing gods, Sol, the goddess of the sun, was anointed and Mani, god of the moon.

"Sun made of sparks"

The gods formed the sun from a spark. They placed the fireball on a golden chariot pulled by two white horses and driven by Sol. To combat the heat they attached the shield Svalin to the chariot. He is pulled by Arwak and Alswinn and constantly pursued by the wolf Skalli.

End of the World (Ragnarok)

On the day of the end of the world, Skalli will catch up with Sol and Mani will be caught up by Hati and then devoured by Managarm. His blood will darken the sun.

In the newly created world, a new sun that Sol gives birth to before Fenrir strangles her shines, more beautiful than herself, which will continue to shine in the new world.

Occasionally the wolf Skoll has gotten too close to the chariot, causing a solar eclipse.

The Old Norse name Sól means "sun",

just like the Old High German and Old Saxon Sunnah.

“Your immortality is just a grain of sand in the desert of time.”
